Many Spider-man fans are up in arms over the casting choice of the beloved Aunt May. Many have flooded the internet with claims that the selected actress, Marisa Tomei is too young and hot to play the Matriarch of the Parker family. A couple weeks back, both Marvel and Sony found their new Peter Parker: Tom Holland. Now, they may have found their new Aunt May. According to Variety, Marisa Tomei has been cast as the woman who raises Peter Parker, after the loss of his parents. Many have speculated that the casting choice is based on the fact that Marvel and Sony have decided to portray the younger Ultimate Universe version of Aunt May, as opposed to the traditional 616 Universe version. In the comics, the Ultimate Aunt May is pretty cool. She relates well to Peter and his teenage friends and love interests (Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane, Kitty Pride, Bobby Drake, etc).
I remember when Batman fans were pissed over Heath Ledger (R.I.P.) being cast as the infamous Batman nemesis, The Joker. Fans lost their shit completely. Thankfully, they were all silenced by his performance. If you haven't read any of the Ultimate Spider-man series, you have definitely missed out on something marvelously brilliant! In my opinion, the version of Aunt May in that comic is much better than the original. I can't wait to see the Reboot! Now the new FF reboot, I'm not too sure about (Sorry Michael B. Jordan but I'm going to pass on it. Although I am looking forward to seeing you in "CREED").
As of right now, Marisa Tomei and the studios are in final negotiations I'll keep you updated as more develops.
